The Importance of Healing Prayer

I focus my heart on two dear people who appear close to death through illness. In both cases it is a malignant cancer. I feel called in this writing to ask for group prayer for these two people–one in a very close relationship with Jesus, the other perhaps not close at all. I know the Lord has done untold miracles in the world since its creation up into the present. I know he performs miracles through us and the Holy Spirit today. Sometimes those miracles are obvious. Sometimes those miracles are mysterious. Sometimes we see the miracle, sometimes we don’t. But, through prayer, we get close to the Lord of the Universe and he hears us cry out. He knows us and he cares for us and our desires. Whatever the outcome of any specific event or prayer, and we can trust it is for his good and his glory.

So, I would ask that we pray together upon reading this writing and that his power becomes known through this prayer – seen or unseen by us. I would humbly ask that he heal these two people in my heart and I put forth that request. But I trust that not only will his will be done, but that he will be with both individuals and make himself known to them in a clear and present way.

There is an old Christian prayer we might all say together: “Heavenly Father, physician of our souls and bodies, Who have sent Your only begotten Son and our Lord Jesus Christ to heal every sickness and infirmity, visit and heal also Your servants from all physical and spiritual ailments through the grace of Your Christ. Grant him and her patience in this sickness, strength of body and spirit, and recovery of health. Lord, You have taught us through Your word to pray for each other that we may be healed. I pray, heal Your servants and grant to him and her the gift of complete health. For You are the source of healing and to You I give glory, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen.

Amen! And I thank you Lord, and thank you friends, for being at the alter of thankfulness with me.
